About

I’m Marnus Mulder — a CIPD-qualified Learning & Development professional with fourteen years designing, delivering and consulting on leadership and management development across professional services, construction, mining, engineering, retail and healthcare, in the UK, Africa and the US. AnthroStrat is the business name on the invoice. I’m the person who does the work.

I spent almost a decade as a partner-level consultant at Berma Consulting in South Africa, working directly with blue-chip clients including Anglo American, De Beers, Teichmann Group, Stefanutti Stocks and SMEI across mining, engineering and construction. In that time I designed, facilitated and evaluated more than 650 learning and consulting sessions, training over 6,500 learners from shop-floor operators through to senior management — sustaining an average evaluation score above 88% across every level of the business. One piece of that work I’m still proud of: diagnosing and resolving a fifteen-year unresolved learning and development gap in Anglo American’s coal control rooms, replacing fragmented, self-shaped operator training with a single group-level standard that reduced risk exposure and improved compliance.

I moved to the UK and continued the same work closer to home. As Leadership and Management L&D Specialist at MKCTS, I designed and delivered accredited leadership programmes to over 300 learners across construction and further education, including senior facilitation of the CITB-funded national ILM Level 3 Leadership and Management in Construction programme, and ILM Levels 3 to 5 in Leadership and Management, Sustainability Leadership, and Coaching and Mentoring. Learner evaluation scores held at 9.4/10 in 2024 and 9.5/10 in 2025.

Alongside the L&D work, I’ve spent time in commercial and operational roles — leading business development, building a team from scratch, co-founding SME ventures — because understanding how a business actually makes money, hires, and survives a downturn changes how you design development for the people running one. That commercial edge is part of what AnthroStrat brings to a programme: not just instructional design, but a consultant’s read on the business behind the training need.

The philosophy

Most leadership development fails for the same reason: it’s built on somebody else’s model, not the business it’s landing in. My approach — I call it the Fit-First Framework — starts with diagnosing the actual causes of the actual problem in your business, then designs the programme around that reality.
